OB Patients - When To Go To The Hospital

  • When your contractions are 5 minutes apart or less for at least 30 minutes (Unless you had a previous labor that was very fast).

    OR

  • If your water breaks. Usually it is very easy to tell if this has happened, but if you are not sure you must come in to the office or to the hospital and be checked.

DO NOT WAIT FOR CONTRACTIONS TO START IF YOU WATER HAS BROKEN!

    OR

  • If you have any bleeding that is as much or more than a period.Spotting or light bleeding is very common, especially after an exam.

If any of the above things happen go to the hospital immediately.

Please do not call me first. I prefer for you to be at the hospital instead of waiting at home for me to call you back. The nurse at the hospital will contact me as soon as you arrive.

You are welcome go the hospital any time you suspect you may be in labor.
